In 1950, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ new artificial lake was named Lake Darling, in honor of one of America’s greatest conservationists, Jay N. “Ding” Darling. Initially, visitors used the lake for many recreational purposes, but it wasn’t long before water conditions began to deteriorate. This 30-minute documentary follows a small community drove a $16 million restoration and renewal project of Lake Darling. Featuring footage that was only discovered during the making of this film, the story is one of hope, of lessons learned and of a new generation taking heed of Darling’s doctrine.
