Got stats questions? This workshop will give participants a chance to ask questions to qualified student or early career biometricians. Each participant will receive a 45-minute one-on-one consulting session to discuss their study system in detail and receive tailored advice from a biometrician. This advice may involve experimental design, conducting analyses, types of models, model comparison, interpreting results or other statistical topics. There are two main goals for this workshop. The first goal is to provide statistical guidance to participants. We request that participants think through their study using the template we provide and identify one or two main questions to focus on. This preparation will help the session be productive. Additional questions will be addressed as time allows. We intend to answer the main two questions from participants and anticipate that participants will benefit even if these questions are not answered. Other questions and topics will develop during the session that may change the focus or will otherwise enhance the participant’s understanding of their system. Our second goal is to give biometricians experience assisting other scientists with statistics. We will develop a guide and reference materials to assist biometricians in structuring the session. We will involve six student or early career biometricians who will conduct four one-on-one consulting sessions, allowing for 24 consulting sessions of 45 minutes each. We will have up to six senior biometricians available who will assist as needed, as well as one workshop coordinator.
