Forests are critical for maintaining wildlife populations and forest management profoundly affects structure, composition, and function of forests. However, there is often a disconnect between wildlife biologists and foresters including understanding forestry practices, terminology, and objectives of forestry/forest management. This disconnect can lead to misperceptions of the role of forestry in wildlife conservation and inhibit effective collaborations. The goal of this session is to introduce basic forestry principles, clarify terminology, introduce forestry objectives, and better understand how to integrate forestry and wildlife conservation objectives. The session will be informal and encourage interaction/questions from workshop participants.
