Ovide Mercredi is a Cree — an American Indian people living in central Canada. He graduated with a law degree from University of Manitoba and practiced both criminal and constitutional law.
From 2005 to 2011, he was the chief of Misipawistik Cree Nation. Now, he is president of the New Democratic Party of Manitoba. Mercredi is a First Nations leader who speaks passionately and eloquently about issues relating to First Nations people. He plans to speak about the topic “Why Do Wildlife Matter” from a Cree and Treaty perspective.
Canadian politician Mercredi has displayed his passion for the Cree Nation by defending the rights of First Nations people throughout Canada.
